What is E-Rate?

E-Rate is a program  that  provides discounts to assist schools and libraries in obtaining affordable internet access. E-Rate discounts can be used for both internet service and the network equipment / infrastructure required to provide said service to your patrons.

How can my library qualify for E-Rate discounts?

To qualify for E-rate discounts, you must create / maintain a profile in the E-rate application portal, follow program requirements (which includes implementing internet filters), and go through a formal competitive bidding process. Northland Cooperative has partnered with an independent consultant to guide us through the process.  Contact the NLC Director for more information.

The Northland Library Cooperative has a current eRate contract to provide internet access to the staff and patrons of eleven member libraries through 2028.  We are working on a Category 2 funding contract for six more libraries to update their networks.
